This Privacy Policy describes how Get Pool Temp (“we,” “us,” or “the Service”), available at getpooltemp.com, collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and related features.
1. Who we are
Get Pool Temp provides swimming-pool water temperature forecasts and related tools (including optional paid “Pool Temp Pro” features). Contact for privacy questions: use the email address associated with your Stripe receipts for billing matters, or the contact method published on getpooltemp.com if listed.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Pool details you enter (location text, dimensions, temperatures, cover/heater settings, and similar inputs used to run a forecast).
- Email address when you start a Pool Temp Pro checkout or restore a subscription.
- Payment information is collected and processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Browser storage (localStorage) for unit preferences, saved pool profiles (Pro), and Pro subscription status on that device.
- Approximate location only if you use “Near me” and allow geolocation in your browser.
- Technical logs that our host (e.g. Netlify) may collect, such as IP address, timestamps, and request URLs, for security and reliability.
- Analytics via Plausible — privacy-friendly, cookieless page-view stats (no personal advertising profiles). See Plausible’s data policy.
2.3 Weather data
Forecasts request weather for the location you choose from third-party weather services (currently Open-Meteo). We send location coordinates or place searches needed to retrieve forecasts; we do not control those providers’ independent practices.
3. How we use information
- To run pool temperature, evaporation, and heater-planning estimates you request.
- To process Pool Temp Pro subscriptions, receipts, and cancellations via Stripe.
- To restore Pro access on a device when you provide the email used at checkout.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms.
4. How we share information
We share information only as needed to run the Service, including:
- Stripe — payment processing, subscriptions, Customer Portal, fraud prevention. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
- Hosting / infrastructure (e.g. Netlify) — to serve the site and serverless functions.
- Weather providers — location needed for forecasts.
- Legal — if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Cookies and local storage
We primarily use browser local storage (not advertising cookies) for preferences, profiles, and Pro status on that browser. Stripe and our host may set their own cookies for security and payment flows. You can clear site data in your browser settings; doing so may sign you out of Pro on that device until you use Restore with your email.
6. Data retention
- Browser-stored data remains until you clear it or uninstall/clear site data.
- Stripe retains payment and subscription records according to Stripe’s policies and legal requirements.
- Server logs are retained by our host for a limited operational period.
7. Security
We use HTTPS and keep payment secrets on the server (not in the public website bundle). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; use the Service at your own risk.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International users
The Service may be hosted in the United States or other regions. By using it, you understand your information may be processed in countries that may have different data-protection laws than your own.
10. Your choices
- Decline geolocation in your browser.
- Clear local storage / site data.
- Cancel Pro and manage billing via the Stripe Customer Portal (Manage on the site).
- Request help accessing or deleting information we control by contacting us through published channels; some records (e.g. Stripe invoices) are retained as required by law.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
